This is my first role as a school governor and have never been involved in the educational or public sectors. I believe this may give a balanced approach by having no previous preconceptions.
My current employer is Fenner Dunlop whose factory is adjacent to the school. It is internally considered to be mutually beneficial for a Fenner Dunlop representative to be involved at a governors level to ensure excellent communication channels exists between the school and the company, a position I thought to be of great interest and potential challenge.
Within my working history I have held the position of a group health & safety and environmental manager, having various formal relevant qualifications brings a skill set I can suitability transfer into the role of H&S governor at Marfleet Primary.
I have two grown up daughters plus one daughter who is close to starting her school journey, which coupled with a wife who is a deputy head at a local primary school envelopes me into the world of primary education to which I am keen to take an active role to understand this ever evolving sector.
