Extended Curriculum

Every Child, Every Opportunity

At Marfleet Primary Academy, we believe that a child’s background or starting point should never be a barrier to their success. Our extended curriculum is the “heartbeat” of our school, intentionally designed to provide the Cultural Capital and Personal Development necessary for our pupils to flourish in modern Britain.

We do not simply teach subjects; we develop the “Whole Child” through our unique Marfleet Learning Goals (MLGs). These goals ensure that from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) through to Year 6, children are equipped with the social confidence, emotional resilience, and practical life skills required to become “Trailblazing Thinkers.”

The Marfleet Universal Offer

Our extended curriculum is built upon a “Barriers to Success” strategy. We recognise that for many of our children, “the extra” is actually “the essential.”

1. Personal Development & Wellbeing

  • The Zones of Regulation: Embedded daily to help children identify, label, and manage their emotions, fostering a “ready to learn” mindset.

  • Marfleet Learning Goals (MLG): A bespoke character framework focusing on independence and resilience, tracked alongside academic progress to celebrate non-academic achievements.

  • Pupil Leadership: Our School Council and Pupil Leadership Teams empower children to have a direct voice in school improvement and community social action projects.

Enrichment & Inclusion

  • Universal Club Access: We offer a diverse range of lunchtime and after-school clubs. To ensure true inclusion, there is no charge for any of our children.

  • Educational Visits: We guarantee that all children access high-quality off-site visits and residential trips without financial barriers, ensuring equitable access to “real-world” learning beyond the East Hull community.

  • Breakfast Club: A daily facility providing a social and nutritional start to the day, directly supporting our high standards for attendance and punctuality.

Success Beyond the Classroom

The impact of our extended curriculum is seen in more than just our Key Stage 2 outcomes. It is measured by:

  • Resilient Learners: Pupils who can self-regulate and approach challenges with a “Can-Do” attitude.

  • Social Mobility: Children who have experienced a breadth of activities that they might not otherwise access.

  • Community Belonging: A deep-rooted sense of pride in our “Marfleet family,” where every child understands their intrinsic value and their potential to impact the world.

“At Marfleet, we believe barriers to learning are not limits, but challenges to be overcome together.”
