Weekly Wave from Mrs Shaw – 24.04.2020

I want to start off with a thank you this week. We started the week with a beautiful video-surprise from the children which was absolutely lovely! We then went on to do our stone painting challenge – another thing to help us all feel connected in this tough time! I have seen some lovely work from the children this week as well. None of this would be possible without your amazing support! Just having one child at home and trying to keep him entertained whilst trying to work is hard enough so I am truly in awe of how you are managing to do all of these amazing things!

 Struggling to access work online?

As the weeks drag into months we are aware that some of our families are really struggling to access online work. Therefore from next week, any families struggling can contact their class teacher who will prepare a pack and leave it for collection in the school office.
Rock painting challenge
I have loved seeing all the lovely rocks left outside the school this week. Keep going and we will soon have one from everyone to bring us all back together!
Year 6 transition to secondary school
I know there has been some uncertainty and anxiety around how transition to secondary school is going to work if schools haven’t returned. Please try not to worry! The school has been working with the Local Authority and the secondary schools to put together a plan if we are not back before the end of the term. As for saying goodbye to friends – if the schools have not returned before the end of the term then we are planning to invite all our year 6’s back for the usual send off (prom, leavers assembly etc.) so whichever way it goes the children will not miss out! If you have any anxieties or need support with appeals or school places please contact Mr Dear or the school office – we are always here to help!
