Remote Learning information, expectation and guidance

During these uncertain times technology has been a fantastic resource in allowing us to continue to deliver high quality teaching and learning remotely. We therefore, as a school, are endeavouring to ensure high quality education will continue no matter the circumstances.

Expectations, guidance and an in-depth overview about all aspects of remote teaching and learning, including provisions and feedback are available on our website.

The school will continue to work tirelessly to deliver the highest level of support for you are your children during these uncertain times. If you require any additional support or are unsure of anything regarding remote learning please contact your child’s class teacher or the schools remote learning lead – Mr J. Dear through the school office.

What will remote learning look like?

Remote teaching and learning will look very different from the previous lockdown. The school has worked extremely hard in developing remote and home learning provision so that it mirrors the learning taking place in the classroom each day to ensure no child is left behind. In October 2020 it became law that all children have access to at least 3 hours of remote/ home learning each day. As a school we ask as parents and carers you support us in delivering this to your children that are working from home.

What will it look like in Early Years?

  • A time table will be put on Bloomz with the times for each lesson. All correspondence will be made each day on Evidence Me. There will be videos or links for the activity.
  • When your child is not doing a directed activity they are expected to learn through play. This includes playing with toys, crafting, role playing, writing etc. There will be some ideas for what you can do on Bloomz. Limit screen time where possible.
  • Each day the children will be required to complete the daily lessons and activities. This will include video tutorials from teachers alongside tasks to complete. The children will follow the same timetable as those in school.
  • In addition to this class teachers will ring the children to ‘check-in’ once per week in order to maintain the relationships they have developed over the last few months. Your class teacher will send out a timeslot each week when this will take place.
  • If you are not yet on Evidence Me contact Miss Hemingway as soon as possible.

  • Each day there children will be required to log on to Google classroom at 9am and join in daily lessons and activities. This will include video tutorials from teachers alongside tasks to complete. The children will follow the same timetable as those in school, this includes lessons such as PE and music.
  • We are providing 2 exercise books (topic and maths) plus a whole class reading book for each child as well as a pack of stationary so any tasks set online can be completed in a book as if they were in school as normal. A timetable of collection will be sent out later in the week.

It is essential that children access remote learning daily from 9am until 3pm in order for us to best support every child. This will allow teachers to gauge how well pupils are progressing and provide feedback live. It will also enable teachers to adjust the pace or difficulty of what is being taught in response to questions or assessments to ensure pupils’ understanding.

For further guidance or information please refer to the schools Remote learning policy or the Remote learning provision document.
